Developing A Precise Call To Action

“CAR GIVEAWAY, READ THIS BLOG TO WIN”

If only every call-to-action sounded that sweet. It motivated you to read this article, right? Optimizing your call-to-action is the secret to getting the best engagement and increasing sales from your company email or newsletter.

What is a call-to-action? Exactly what the phrase indicates: calling on, or asking a customer to take an action.  A call-to-action (also known as a CTA) should come across as attractive, action-oriented and easy to spot in your email. CTAs in the subject line can be quite challenging to create due to the limited space available in most email clients (Gmail, Outlook, Mac Mail, etc.). Unlike many websites’ CTAs, email CTAs are meant to incentivize the subscriber and encourage them to receive more messages.

Want to increase revenue, maximize your brand awareness and hit your email marketing goals? This post will give you some ideas on how to create an effective and precise call-to-action for your email marketing campaigns.

  1. Choose the right placement: Besides the CTA in your subject line, make sure there is a prominent, easy-to-find CTA within the body of the email. It’s important to include the call-to-action a few times throughout the email to remind your customers why they’re reading the message. Reiteration is key. Also, why not add a big, colorful button that tells your customers what to do next?
  2. Create a sense of urgency: Urgency will encourage clickers to engage with the CTA sooner than they usually would have. Set a deadline for people so they know that they CANNOT miss out. Use phrases like: “Claim your coupon now,” “Reveal My Discount” or “Enter Now.” Make sure you pair an action word (verb) and urgent word together to really emphasize the need to act ASAP.
  3. Be exclusive: Offer something scarce in your email that your subscribers couldn’t find anywhere else. Some examples are “Limited Time Offer,” “Flash Sale for Subscribers,” “Picked Out Just For You,” “3-Day Sale” or “VIP Members Only.”
  4. Use your verb:  Verbs are key to attracting clicks and engagement within your email. When engaging your reader, use statements like “Try for free,” “Show me the freebies,” or “Sign me up.” These calls-to-action are unique, straight to the point and build curiosity. Your subscribers will be delighted when they simply click to receive something of value.

Now you know the secrets on optimizing your call to action in your email marketing. Hopefully, you gained knowledge and a better understanding of writing and developing an effective call-to-action.
