Email Marketing: A love/hate relationship

Whether you are a consumer or marketer — emails can be pesky and at times, something you don’t even want to deal with! It’s definitely an art to be able to properly strategize an email marketing campaign to engage your customers. And whether you want to believe it or not, email marketing is still growing. Gmail alone, has more than 1 billion active users! It’s easy to stray away and create a campaign with not much return, but here are some tips that will allow you to create a email marketing strategy worth your while.

Personalize, Personalize, PERSONALIZE! 

Consumers don’t want to read hundreds of generic broadcast messages; they want to feel like they’re part of a conversation.

The way I see it, I feel much better receiving an email from someone who uses my name correctly. It’s a sense of respect and that you sincerely care about me. Of course, your lists are long and it may be difficult but coming from a consumers perspective — it sounds a lot nicer when personalized. Put yourself in the shoes of a consumer, you all receive emails, I’m sure you all tend to open up more with your name at the top. Am I right? Or am I right?

It also makes a lot more sense to have a personalized email on your end instead of “no reply”. Sometimes people may have questions come up. You want to get those questions answered as soon as possible!

Set a Topic for Your Newsletter. A lot of people think newsletters needs to cover several topics, which can be overwhelming for the consumer who’s viewing it. With consumers receiving so much information at such a fast pace how about trying to pinpoint a certain topic, service, or product for your given newsletter. It my eyes, this kills two birds with one stone. It allows you to build out more content for one item of interest instead of compiling multiple ideas into one weekly/monthly newsletter depending on your traffic.

Call to Action: The whole goal of email marketing is for them to view your domain and interact more frequently with your brand. Creating strong call to action’s will definitely create leads into customers. Instead of using the words “click here” try something more catchy, like “learn more” or “shop more styles”.

People Love Emojis: If used in the right context. Try them out in your subject line, make sure your subject line comes out as thoughtful and not clickbait.

Color Schemes: Believe it or not, color can impact the way someone views something. Try experimenting with different color palettes on your CTA buttons to see if there is a better response.
